得知 GIMP 2.8 發布的消息Androidj就立馬當先的沖了！沒想到的是部份軟件與原先的版本有沖突，在安裝失敗以後導致軟件庫整個鎖住(Lock)，經過一翻苦戰後終於搞定了，強烈建議想升級的伙伴先手動移除 GIMP 再試。
GIMP 2.8最大的特性，是自我有印象起許許多多人都提出過需求的：單窗口模式。你不再受制於停靠窗口（Palette）或對話框（當然除非你選擇這麼做）。這是開發組一項了不起的工作！
特別值得關注的包括：
圖層分組功能。
單窗口的 UI，不過仍舊在討論當中，尚未最終決定。
直接在畫布上編輯文字。
新一代核心 GEGL 的整合進度也非常不錯，圖層模式和圖層混合的功能已經通過 GEGL 來處理了。
還有一個很有意思的貼心功能：輸入框支持計算功能，不錯 :)
下面詳細說說如何在Ubuntu 12.04 下安裝 GIMP 2.8 正式版，不當之處敬請指出。

GIMP 2.8 啟動信息/圖1
1. 安裝及升級 GIMP
1.1. 未安裝或先行移除 GIMP 後再升級
1.1.1. 添加軟件來源。
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
1.1.2. 安裝 GIMP。
sudo apt-get install gimp gimp-plugin-registry gimp-data-extras
1.2. 已安裝 GIMP 直接升級
1.2.1. 新增軟件來源。
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp [Enter]
1.2.2. 更新軟件來源並升級 (若升級失敗再接著看 1.2.3, 若成功請略過 1.2.3 ~ 1.2.6)。
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade [Enter]
