Ubuntu server版本默認沒有安裝圖形界面
可以按照下列步驟安裝

升級並安裝x windows(GNOME)桌面環境
sudo apt-get update
安裝 X 窗口系統：sudo apt-get install x-window-system-core。
安裝登錄管理器：sudo apt-get install xdm/gdm/kdm[注]。最常見的圖形化登錄管理器包括 XDM、GDM、KDM，用戶可根據自己的需要選擇其中之一。
安裝桌面環境或窗口管理器：sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop/kubuntu-desktop/xubuntu-desktop。這將分別安裝 GNOME、KDE、XFCE 桌面環境。對於 GNOME、KDE、XFCE 這些桌面環境來說，為了獲得更強的定制效果，也可僅安裝最基本的組件，如：sudo apt-get install gnome-core/kde-core/xfce4。當然，如果不需要桌面環境，也可選擇安裝窗口管理器代替。那樣的話，可以執行指令 sudo apt-get install fluxbox/icewm/enlightenment/fvwm。
