raw1和raw2是Sybase的數據庫設備實際存放的物理設備名稱。raw1用來存放數據庫，raw2用來存放事務日志。
在這裡我們正確地分配raw1和raw2的大小：
假設我們定義raw1=600M, raw2=200m。

可把光盤上的Sybase安裝至/u/Sybase之下。
至此，Sybase已安裝至硬盤上面，我們可以進行設置方面地工作。

首先, 要把在/mnt下的sybase拆卸掉,我們以root登錄,執行# umount /dev/cd0 ↙ 即可
然後# cd /u/sybase/install ↙ “設置環境變量”

增大SHMMAX的大小
# 重新鏈接內核 sh ./sco_kernel.scr sybase ↙
# cd /etc/conf/cf.d ↙
# vi stune
刪掉MAXPMEM 0該行後，存盤退出
# vi mtune
修改NAIOHBUF該行，將50修改成500後，存盤退出
# cd /etc/conf/pack.d /itimer ↙
# cp space.c.presyb space.c ↙
# vi space.c
修改該行int alarm_accuracy設為等於-1；
# cd /usr/lib
# cp aiomemlock. presyb aiomemlock ↙
# vi aiomemlock （在該文件末增加一行sybase 28000000）
# cd /etc/conf/sdevice.d
# vi aio
將該文件重覆的兩行刪掉一行後，存盤退出
# vi suds
將suds該行的N，改為Y後存盤退出
# cd /etc/rc2.d
# vi S99*
在#字符下一行的行首加入一句： /etc/suds_ctrl -a 100
該100為Sybase的組號，做完此步之後
鏈接內核重新啟動後，重新進入Sybase用戶
$ cd install
$ sybinit
此時，請參考附頁1，將參數設置正確，提示安裝成功即可。
