要安裝Dell版的Ubuntu 9.04，首先，從戴爾的linux大本營：http://linux.dell.com/下載Ubuntu-9.04-dell-reinstall.iso。大小大約1.8G。從日期來看，戴爾是09年4月28日把Ubuntu 9.04放上來的，那時候Canonical官方也剛剛放出9.04沒幾天。這樣說來，Dell和Canonical的合作還是挺緊密的。
我是想把Ubuntu 9.04折騰到我的mini 9上。可是如何把ISO寫到U盤是另外一個問題。畢竟，戴爾的mini系列（Mini 9，Mini 10，Mini 12）都是沒有光驅的。
我的另一台筆記本電腦是用Windows Vista的，而且有安裝UltraISO 9。就用它吧。至於Linux下向U盤寫入ISO的方法，有興趣的自己研究吧。
首先，以管理員身份運行UltraISO.exe，然後選擇 “File” – “Open”。打開下載完畢的ISO文件。直接寫入U盤即可。由於ISO只有1.8G，插一個2G的U盤就足夠了。
ISO寫入完畢後，將U盤拔下，插到mini 9上，開機，按0，選擇從U盤啟動（菜單中選擇USB Storage）。
U盤啟動後，屏幕的提示為：
Start booting from USB device…
SYSLINUX 3.71 2008-07-31 EBIOS Copyright ? 1994-2008 H. Peter Anvin
This is the Ubuntu Live Dell Reinstallation Media.
For the default Vendor Reinstallation system, press ENTER.

當然，按回車就可以了。短暫的loading之後，屏幕會有另外的提示：

ALL DATA ON YOUR HARD DRIVE WILL BE PERMANENTLY LOST.
To proceed, please type: ERASE.
在此提示後，輸入大寫ERASE後按回車。
如果輸入錯誤並按了回車，會有另外的提示：
Installation ABORTED. System will reboot in 30 seconds.
No CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO YOUR HARD DRIVE.
